Shontelle全名Shontelle Layne，1985年10月4日出生在拉丁美洲加勒比海地区的岛国巴巴多斯。
她在2005年就已经出道，那时她和巴巴多斯另一位艺人Natahlee合作的单曲Colours在加勒比海地区十分流行，此外在2006年她还为歌手Alison Hinds写了首热门单曲Roll It Gal。2006年，Shontelle和Rihanna，J-status合作歌曲Roll it。
